DIGITAL DAZIBAO - Introduction
Briefly on this "site"
Hello, this "site" (which is not actually an independent site but rather a sub directory of my main website) is the follow up to my other site created for my English final in the previous semester in review of the text "How The Steel Was Tempered" by Nikolai Ostrovsky. This time for the book "The Golden Road" by Hao Ran
I come quite a long way in the past few months in terms of my webdev and design capabilities so I figured to have another go at this format for my assignment once again. This "site" is in the style of a "digital dazibao (big character poster)" like those of the revolutionary period in China and immediately after it.
Thus each paper is a series of "papers" plastered on a "wall" for the "masses" to read. They can be read from left to right, top to bottom, in the standard manner you would any other English text.
Additionally the sources used are listed on one page rather than at the bottom of each page
A Brief Summary
The book follows the life of a northern Chinese village immediately after the conquest of power by the communist party and foundation of the People’s Republic in 1949 and the first harvest and planting season after the first land reforms. With a heavy focus being given to ideological struggles which play out between the county and village leadership on one side and some grassroots cadre on another, over the “get rich” directive issued by the higher ups in the communist party, what this means, and how to implement it. As well as how the village will continue on into the future to strive for the development of socialism.
